Corporate assets can "walk out the door" in 2 ways, malicious action or accident. Malicious action is difficult, if not impossible, to prevent, for example, you could simply take a picture of a screenful of sensitive information using a smartphone. The purpose of deploying the tools that I suggest is to prevent the accidental loss of data. If IT can make it easy for users to access their data in a safe way, they won't be tempted to use the public Dropbox or Skydrive or whatever. The risk of accident drastically increases as more people use unsafe practices to do their job. There are no absolutes here, it is a matter of reducing the risk, and as with everything, must be weighed against the cost of risk mitigation.

great description of the current reality in an enterprise. But I still don't see the answer to preventing corporate assets from walking out the door and into the drop or skybox, does that mean that it doesn't really exist yet?
