Job Description:

IDS is seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer / Technical Architect to join its dynamic team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies (Azure and M365) as well as skills and experience in networking, storage, backup, common applications and client services. They will be responsible for project work and for supporting a diverse range of client environments. In addition, as an experienced professional, they will provide leadership and guidance to the team.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Adopt and deliver consulting methodologies
2. Assist with the design of Cloud, on-premise or hybrid solutions
3. Recommend solutions that align with the customer’s business needs and requirements
4. Coach System Engineers and assist them with incident and problem resolution
5. Assist in the development of detailed project specifications and implementation plans
6. Present solutions and articulate architecture recommendations to clients in a professional manner
7. Develop and maintain relationships with key technical contacts within customer accounts
8. Remain educated on new and relevant technologies (Cloud, infrastructure and applications)
9. Maintain relevant certifications at all times
10. Document all aspects of work: standards, procedures, diagrams, credentials, configurations, correspondence and definitions
11. Work closely with IT Project Managers to communicate and escalate issues as appropriate
12. Provide end-user training when required
13. Provide technical services and support for client infrastructure and applications
14. Assist with escalated support issues with third parties related to Microsoft’s core business solutions, WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, security, and remote access solutions
15. Perform network assessments, security audits and new client consultations
16. Work with colleagues to engineer projects, identify new products and solutions, and research solutions for existing clients

Qualifications:

Qualifications: Canadian “Secret” clearance. A College Diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role; preferred Azure certifications or working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualization technologies, networking protocols and related infrastructure.
