Job Description:

As a Senior Network Engineer at IDS Systems, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting complex network environments for our clients. You will work closely with both internal teams and clients to ensure network systems are reliable, secure, and performing at their best. Your expertise will help us provide top-notch support to clients across a variety of industries, ensuring optimal uptime, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex network solutions for client environments, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical support teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess their network requirements, deliver tailored solutions, and ensure the highest levels of performance and security.
  • Manage and configure firewalls, routers, switches, and other network infrastructure devices.
  • Monitor network performance, conduct regular audits, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform network assessments and develop strategic roadmaps for clients’ evolving network needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as required.
  • Document configurations, processes, and solutions to ensure efficient knowledge sharing and client handovers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on large-scale, enterprise-level networks.
  • Strong proficiency in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).
  • Expertise in network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure access controls.
  • Firewalls: WatchGuard, Fortinet, Cisco, SonicWALL
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and hybrid cloud networking.
  • Azure Hands-on experience:
    • Azure networking – Azure gateway deployment and management
    • Azure Multi-factor authentication
    • Azure Information Protection (AIP)
    • Azure File Services
    • Azure Site Recovery (ASR), Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS)
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Azure Security
  • In-depth knowledge of network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
  • Certification(s) such as Fortinet, Watchguard or Cisco.
  • Microsoft certification would be preferred but not required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex network issues quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SD-WAN, MPLS, and other advanced networking technologies.
  • Experience with scripting or automation for network management (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and best practices.
  • Previous experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or similar fast-paced environment.
